I. Mainstream Classifications of Stainless Steel Pipes The stainless steel pipe industry is mainly classified according to two dimensions: forming process and material grade. Different categories have significant differences in pressure resistance, corrosion resistance, and applicable working conditions, which are core standards for engineering material selection.

1. Classification by Forming Process

(1) Seamless Stainless Steel Pipe
Seamless stainless steel pipe is formed by piercing, drawing, and hot rolling of solid steel billets in one piece. The pipe wall has no weld seams, a dense and uniform structure, and extremely strong pressure resistance, high temperature resistance, and impact resistance. The pipe has good sealing performance and zero leakage, and can withstand high pressure, high temperature, and strong corrosive media erosion. Its overall stability far exceeds that of welded pipe. The main materials are 304 and 316L, and it is widely used in high-end industrial pipelines, high-pressure fluids, special equipment, and medical and sanitary grade pipelines. It belongs to high-end precision industrial pipe materials.

(2) Welded Stainless Steel Pipe
Welded stainless steel pipe uses stainless steel strip as raw material, which is rolled, automatically welded, rounded, polished, and cut to length. It is divided into straight seam welded pipe and large-diameter rolled welded pipe. It has high production efficiency, complete specifications, smooth surface, excellent cost performance, high dimensional accuracy, and beautiful appearance. It has moderate pressure resistance and is suitable for normal pressure, medium and low pressure fluid transportation and decorative structures. It is widely used in municipal water supply, HVAC pipelines, decorative trusses, guardrail pipes, and other civil and general engineering scenarios. 2. Classification by Material Grade

(1) 201 Stainless Steel Pipe
201 is a low-nickel, high-manganese stainless steel pipe. It is economical, has high hardness, good polishing effect, and excellent pipe straightness. Its corrosion resistance is limited; it is not resistant to salt spray or acids and alkalis, and is only suitable for dry indoor environments. It is mainly used for indoor decorative pipes, railing frames, furniture pipes, and general structural supports. It is strictly prohibited for outdoor use, water supply, chemical applications, and corrosive conditions.

(2) 304 Stainless Steel Pipe
304 is the mainstream austenitic stainless steel pipe commonly used in the market. It has a standard nickel-chromium ratio, stable corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, and rust prevention, and balanced welding performance, toughness, and processing performance. It is suitable for outdoor open-air, humid environments, domestic water supply, and conventional industrial media. It is the preferred pipe material for food, water purification, municipal, HVAC, and general anti-corrosion projects, with the strongest versatility and the largest market share. (3) 316L Stainless Steel Pipe

316L is a low-carbon, molybdenum-containing high-end stainless steel pipe. Its resistance to chloride ions, seawater, and acid/alkali corrosion far surpasses that of 304. It also exhibits excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion, high temperature resistance, and fatigue resistance. With stable material properties and a high hygiene rating, it is a specialized pipe material for marine engineering, sewage treatment, fine chemicals, medical equipment, and high-end water purification projects. It is a high-corrosion-resistant and high-precision pipe material.

(4) 430 Stainless Steel Pipe

430 is a nickel-free ferritic pipe. It is low-cost, has good thermal conductivity, is magnetic, and has a bright appearance. Its corrosion resistance and weldability are average. It is mostly used for kitchen and bathroom accessories, household appliance fittings, and ordinary decorative pipes. It is not suitable for structural load-bearing or corrosive fluid transportation scenarios.

II. Core Performance Advantages of Stainless Steel Pipes

1. Super strong corrosion and rust prevention, ultra-long service life

The surface of stainless steel pipes has a built-in passivation protective film that can automatically repair itself and continuously isolate moisture and corrosive media. It will not rust, scale, or peel off even after long-term use. 1. No need for repeated painting and galvanizing for corrosion protection like carbon steel pipes, significantly reducing later maintenance costs and extending service life to 5-10 times that of ordinary carbon steel pipes.

2. Hygienic and clean, no secondary pollution. High-quality 304 and 316L stainless steel pipes are non-toxic, do not leach, have smooth inner walls that do not easily breed bacteria or form scale, and meet national drinking water, food, and pharmaceutical hygiene standards. They ensure smooth water flow and stable water quality, making them a safe pipe material for water purification projects, direct drinking water pipelines, and food and pharmaceutical pipelines.

3. Stable mechanical properties and high pressure resistance. Stainless steel pipes have high strength, good toughness, impact resistance, and deformation resistance. They maintain stable performance under high and low temperature conditions, are not prone to bursting or leakage. Seamless pipes can withstand high pressure and high temperature conditions, while welded pipes can meet the load-bearing requirements of conventional fluids and structures, resulting in an extremely high safety factor for engineering projects.

4. Smooth Inner Wall, Low Transport Resistance: The smooth inner wall of stainless steel pipes results in low fluid friction resistance, high transport efficiency, and resistance to scale buildup and clogging. Long-term use ensures stable pipeline flow, avoiding problems such as corrosion, diameter reduction, blockage, and leakage common in traditional pipes, making it suitable for long-term continuous fluid transport.

5. Exquisite Appearance, Dual Function for Decoration and Structure: Stainless steel pipes can be polished, brushed, and plated, offering a high-end metallic texture and a clean, wear-resistant surface. They serve as both industrial fluid piping and high-end decorative structural piping, widely used in curtain wall supports, landscape railings, and decorative trusses, achieving a seamless integration of structure and aesthetics.

6. Green and Environmentally Friendly, 100% Recyclable: Stainless steel is non-toxic, harmless, aging-resistant, and fully recyclable, producing no construction waste pollution and meeting modern green engineering and energy-saving environmental protection construction standards.

III. Main Application Areas of Stainless Steel Pipes

1. Municipal Water Supply and Direct Drinking Water Projects

304 and 316L stainless steel pipes are the preferred materials for urban secondary water supply, building direct drinking water, community water supply, and renovation of old pipe networks. They ensure water quality safety, do not rust, and do not pollute water bodies, completely solving the problems of yellowing water, corrosion, and leakage in traditional pipes.

2. Food, Pharmaceutical, and Hygiene Industries
Sanitary-grade seamless stainless steel pipes and precision-polished welded pipes are used in food processing fluid pipelines, pharmaceutical process pipelines, aseptic delivery systems, and medical device pipelines, meeting high standards of cleanliness, corrosion resistance, and hygiene requirements.

3. Chemical, Environmental Protection, and Corrosion Protection Industries

304 and 316L seamless stainless steel pipes are used in chemical acid and alkali transportation, desulfurization and denitrification equipment, sewage treatment pipelines, and environmental protection equipment media pipelines. They can withstand long-term corrosive media erosion, ensuring stable equipment operation.

4. HVAC, Thermal Power, and Special Equipment: Stainless steel boasts excellent high-temperature resistance and oxidation resistance, making it suitable for steam heat exchanger pipelines, heating networks, boiler auxiliary pipelines, and low-temperature equipment pipelines. It remains resistant to cracking and deformation under high and low temperature environments.
